(MyFantasyLeague.com Fantasy Times Sources - Dec 28, 2009) In a week 16 Lombardi League intra-divisional battle, Illio Pirates squeaked by a tough Russian Leprechauns team by a score of 72.8 to 72.1, extending the losing streak for Russian Leprechauns to 3 games.

Illio Pirates were led to their 0.7 point victory by a 19.2 point effort from Philip Rivers, who got by the Tennessee Titans defense for 264 passing yards and 2 passing TDs. They also got help from a 13.3 point effort from Robert Meachem, who snuck past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense for 66 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD in addition to 7 rushing yards.

"This MVP award belongs to the whole team," Illio Pirates coach Shawn Gordy said.

Russian Leprechauns were helped out in a losing cause by a 18.3 point effort from LaDainian Tomlinson, who snuck past the Tennessee Titans defense for 59 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs in addition to 4 receiving yards. They also got help from a 15.0 point effort from Ben Roethlisberger, who got by the Baltimore Ravens defense for 259 passing yards and 1 passing TD.

"I take full responsibility for this loss," Russian Leprechauns coach Shawn Chutskoff said.

Compounding the issue, Russian Leprechauns could have scored 79.2 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Shawn Chutskoff left key players like Visanthe Shiancoe and his corresponding 10.0 points on the bench.

This brings the record for Illio Pirates to 8-5, and drops Russian Leprechauns to a record of 8-5.
